Etsy listing photos
Upload one photo of your item. Get styled, lifestyle, detail and scale photos sized for Etsy, with your real, unedited photo kept in the set as the photo Etsy requires.
Yes, with limits. Etsy requires at least one unedited photo of the actual item for most listings, does not allow AI to hide damage or change how an item looks, and requires sellers to say so in the listing description when the item itself was created with AI.
Etsy requires at least one “unedited photo of the actual item against a real background” for most items, and allows AI for cropping and resizing (Etsy image requirements, how the image rules apply). Product Aura puts your original upload in every Etsy ZIP as 00-original-unedited, resized only, so the real photo travels with the set.
Etsy says “sellers must disclose within their listing description if an item is created with the use of AI” (Etsy Help). That rule is about the item itself. Product Aura makes photos of your real, physical item; it does not make the item.
A handmade candle photographed in an AI-made scene is still a handmade candle. If you are unsure how the rule applies to your shop, read Etsy’s page or ask Etsy support; this is not legal advice.
Etsy’s rules say “don’t use AI to hide damage or change an item’s appearance”. For patterns and recipes, AI images cannot be the only images of the finished result (Etsy Help).
Product Aura makes 4 Etsy listing photos around your original: a styled hero photo, a lifestyle scene, a detail close-up and an in-hand scale shot. The ZIP names each file in listing order, with your unedited photo first:

Etsy recommends a horizontal or square first photo of at least 635 pixels, because it is used as the search thumbnail (Etsy Help). Product Aura makes every Etsy photo in a 4:3 landscape shape, and the styled hero photo is designed for that first slot.
Product Aura uses your photo as the reference for every scene and tells the image model to keep the item’s shape, proportions, colors, materials and label text unchanged. Generated scenes can still drift, so you check each photo; rate it “Product looks different” and make it again if it does not match your item.
Product Aura exports Etsy photos at 2,000 pixels or more on both sides, which Etsy recommends, and compresses each JPEG to stay under Etsy’s 1 MB upload warning. The checklist on each set flags any file that is still over 1 MB.
| Rule | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Recommended size | At least 2,000 px wide and high | Etsy Help |
| First photo | At least 635 px; horizontal or square | Etsy Help |
| File size | Files over 1 MB “may not finish uploading” | Etsy Help |
| Formats | .jpg, .gif, .png, .heic; no animated GIF or transparent PNG | Etsy Help |
| Photos per listing | Up to 20 photos and 2 videos | Etsy Help |
Every rule, with its source, is on the Etsy photo size and requirements page.
Upload one photo, check the item profile, pick the photos, and download a ZIP named in listing order. The photos take about 1 to 3 minutes to make.
A clear JPG, PNG or WebP photo of the whole item, up to 15 MB. This photo also goes in the ZIP as your unedited Etsy photo.
Product Aura drafts the item name, its selling points and its setting from the photo, for example “hand-poured soy candle in amber glass” in “a cozy reading nook”. Edit them; the setting drives the scenes.
The shot plan shows each photo and its credit cost first. After generating, rate each photo, change it with a sentence such as “linen tablecloth, morning light”, or make it again.
Files are numbered from 00, so the upload order is the listing order.
Etsy sellers of physical items that can be photographed use it: jewelry, candles, home decor, ceramics, bags and prints. Product Aura starts from a photo of a real item, so it does not make mockups for digital products.
Small items need a sense of scale. The in-hand shot shows the piece held in a hand, and the detail close-up shows the metal and stones.
The styled hero photo puts the candle on a natural surface such as linen, wood or stone in soft window light, the warm, handmade look the Etsy pack is built around.
The lifestyle scene shows the piece in a real room, set by the setting in your item profile.
An Etsy set of 4 photos uses 4 credits, because 1 credit is one 2K image; your original photo is free. That is about $1.27 on the Creator plan ($19 for 60 credits) and about $0.99 on Business ($149 for 600 credits). See Product Aura pricing.
Up to 20 photos and 2 videos per listing, according to Etsy’s “How to Create a Listing” help page.
Etsy recommends a width and height of at least 2,000 pixels, and at least 635 pixels for the first photo. Product Aura exports every Etsy photo at 2,000 pixels or more on both sides.
Lifestyle and detail shots work on any store after resizing. Amazon’s main image must be on pure white, so make a separate Amazon set for that.
Etsy’s rules target AI that hides damage or changes how an item looks, and listings without an unedited photo of the real item. Follow both rules and read Etsy’s help pages; nobody can promise how Etsy reviews a listing.
New accounts get 20 credits to try it, with no card needed. An Etsy set uses 4.
